Rockathon Activities
The following exciting activities are planned from morning to afternoon. Let’s make this new initiative a big success with your participation and spread the message on conservation and importance of protecting our rocks . You can participate in multiple activity one after the other. Bring your Friends, Family and Children Along. Who can attend: All Ages including children above 8 Years.

Most events will be run parallel and you can participate in them one after the other. We will have multiple setups so more members can do the activity in parallel.

Activity Description and Guidelines
Society to Save Rocks activities
Rock Walk: A rock walk is done around rocks to highlight the importance of preservation of rocks and appreciate the beauty of the rocks. You will get ample time to feel and photograph the rocks.
Photography Contest: Three Best Photographs of the rocks will be chosen by a panel of Judges and will be published online with credits to the photographers. You are free to move around in the designated area and click pictures.
Rock Quiz : Participate and Find out How much do you know about rocks and their heritage.
Drawing Workshop: Capture the beauty of the rocks in your drawings in this guided workshop
Rock Installation: Art made out of rocks and stones - there are myriad possibilities to create images and objects with stony materials.
Rock Balancing: A challenging and interesting game where you have to balance rocks of different shapes together.
_Rock Shot Put:
Tray your strength and we will see who can hurl the stone ball the furthest.
GHAC Adventure activities
Slack Lining: Slack lining is a practice in balance that uses mind body coordination. A slack line uses nylon or polyester webbing tensioned between two anchor points. This is a safe and fun activity that all ages can enjoy for hours together.
Scrambling is rock climbing activity that uses all the limbs with the sole aim of reaching to the top. Trained rock climbers will guide you on how to scramble. This will be done in groups of 10 from 8 am to 12 pm
Bouldering is a climbing activity that has a predefined route of various difficulties. Bouldering is done with rock climbing shoes and safety crash mats. Trained climbers will assist and introduce you to this interesting sport
Rappelling is getting down a vertical face with the help of rope and harness. Experience the adrenaline rush as you get down a vertical rock. Rappelling is conducted under supervision of a trained personnel and certified safety equipment. Rappelling is also used for Team Building and Behavioral Training
Trail Run will consist of 5 Km of run done on the existing trails. Its fun to run in the wild grass and trees and among the various rocks. This is not a competition so enjoy the run.
Zip Line consists of a pulley suspended on a cable, usually made of stainless steel, mounted on an incline. It is designed to enable a user propelled by gravity to travel from the top to the bottom of the inclined cable by holding on to, or attaching to, the freely moving pulley .
Valley Crossing is traveling across the valley with the help of rope and other equipment. This activity is done by having two definite ends that is connected by a rope. Individuals cross the valley with the help of these equipment.

Society to Save Rocks activities
Rock Walk: A rock walk is done around rocks to highlight the importance of preservation of rocks and appreciate the beauty of the rocks. You will get ample time to feel and photograph the rocks.
- Guidelines for Rock Walk:
- All participants in the Rock Society’s events will walk together to the rock sites behind the focal venue and should keep in sight of the guides. Photo Contest participants can separate, but should make sure that they do not lose their own guides.
Photography Contest: Three Best Photographs of the rocks will be chosen by a panel of Judges and will be published online with credits to the photographers. You are free to move around in the designated area and click pictures.
- Guidelines for Photography
- No age bar for entering into the competition;
- Photos are to be taken at the venue during the competition and must feature rocks and activities of Rockathon;
- Each participant can submit maximum three pictures, by 11.00 AM
- Editing of photos will not be permitted:
- Participants are requested to bring along their card reader for transferring their submissions to the laptops of the judges.
- The Three best photos will be uploaded on the Society’s website and/or printed in its quarterly newsletter.
Rock Quiz : Participate and Find out How much do you know about rocks and their heritage.
- Guidelines for Rock Quiz
- Teams of 2 - 4 participants will be chosen randomly at the venue.
- Questions will be on rocks in the Deccan, in India and in the world.
- First and second prize will be awarded.

- Guidelines for Drawing Workshop
- Paper and pencils/crayons will be provided at the venue.
- You should bring your own clipboard and Mat.

Rock Balancing: A challenging and interesting game where you have to balance rocks of different shapes together.
- Guidelines for Rock Balancing
- Maximum of 3 balancing formations per participant will be judged.
- Stacking stones flat on top of each-other is easier than balancing them upright. So, stacked stones will fetch fewer points than balanced ones.
- Each formation should have at least 10 stacked stones or 5 balanced stones, excluding the base stone. Smooth pebbles will get extra points.
- The 2 best formations will be selected.
- For inspiration, check the web at “Rock Balancing”
- For Rock Balancing event, stones and rocks will be gathered at the venue, possibly on the way back from the Rock Walk, or later.

- Guidelines for Outdoor Activities:
- Please wear a sports shoes.
- Wear Light Color and loose sports track or comfortable clothing.
- This is a wilderness area so better be in full pants and full sleeves.
- Carry a Sun hat and apply sun cream.
- Carry water and refreshments to keep yourself hydrated and energetic.
- Women should tie their hair before rappelling.
- All items like phones keys should not be kept in pockets during rappelling.
